Microsoft har redovisat sitt resultat för det senaste kvartalet:
Microsoft Corp. today announced revenue of $13.65 billion for the third quarter ended March 31, 2009, a 6% decline from the same period of the prior year. Operating income, net income and diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $4.44 billion, $2.98 billion and $0.33 per share, which represented an increase of 3% and declines of 32% and 30%, respectively, when compared with the prior year period.

Apple® today announced financial results for its fiscal 2009 second quarter ended March 28, 2009. The Company posted revenue of $8.16 billion and a net quarterly profit of $1.21 billion, or $1.33 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $7.51 billion and net quarterly profit of $1.05 billion, or $1.16 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 36.4 percent, up from 32.9 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 46 percent of the quarter’s revenue.
Som jag skrev häromdagen på twitter; marknadsandelar är inte allt. Det bevisas inte minst av att Nokia, som jag tror har störst andel av mobilmarknaden, rapporterat en 90-procentig vinstminskning.
Ett förtydligande: Apple, Nokia och Microsoft har olika bokföringsår. Därför infaller Nokias första kvartal samtidigt som som Microsofts tredje och Apples andra.
